You may find the worst enemy or best friend in yourself (English proverb). We are intrigued by the opposite desires to hold us back from moving forward. When you have a desire to get something, the exact opposite side of thought will jump out immediately to stop you.
Do it…..not do it
I’m okay….. I’m not okay
I can achieve...…this will never happen.
I should trust him…...he is lying.
The opposite desires are fighting with each other on your head. What makes it difficult because you have no obvious answer.
The bad news is the negative channel always wins. Why?
Our emotions get the irrational intensity to feel bad even for a small loss or threatened loss (of property, love, dominated territory, opportunity, status, or any other values). Loss is twice more powerful to affect our emotions than gain. Hence, we tend to amplify the losses to avoid making a decision. What are you going to do about this?
Avoid jumping into a statement, ask questions instead. For instance, when you tell yourself you’re not ready getting remarried, ask yourself questions such as:
How does my life change after I get married to him?
What does it mean to be his wife in the family?
Is this the best way to get to where I want to go?
When a question posed, it acts as a catalyst for our brain to trigger a mental reflex with new insights for answers. The goal is the point. It’s more useful to figure out how does the thing work driving to your desire goal. What’s next is focus on that direction, don’t look around but ahead. Breathe, trust, and see what happens. Life is too short to spend day after day wondering what would happen if we do things otherwise.
What If I'm Wrong?
What if I’m wrong? Yes, it's possible. Indeed.
Human cognition of things is incomplete and flawed, so we are inevitably easy to make mistakes. Our traditional education system trained us not to make mistakes. The greatest mistake we can make in life is to be continually fearing we will make one. We attempt to do all the right things. The fact is we can’t realize what are the right things only after many wrong things had done. Everyone knows to learn from failure. Knowing is not enough. Apply it. The point is never denial your mistakes if you did make one.
A mistake doesn’t mean failure. Failure did happen in some of the time doesn’t mean destiny.
